Max Fried started on the mound for the hometown Bravos tonight in Truist Park. And despite numerous comments about being perfect from Chip Caray in the booth, Max held the Rays to no baserunners until a seeing-eye single made it’s way through the middle of the infield for the Rays first hit with 2 outs in the top of the 5th inning. Max had his best stuff from every pitch in his arsenal, even hitting 99 MPH on the radar gun. Fried usually sticks around the 93-95 mph range.

Dansby got the Braves on the board early with an RBI single, scoring Ozuna from 2nd. Later in the inning, Austin Riley sent a sacrifice fly to Right Field to score Adam Duvall from 3rd. Giving Atlanta a 2-0 lead.

The first hitter Luke Jackson faced in relief of Fried hit an RBI single to the right of 2nd base to bring the Rays to within one run.

In the top of the 9th, Adam Duvall made a spectacular sliding catch on the warning track for the first out. Tyler Flowers gunned Kevin Kiermaier trying to steal 2nd base for the second out of the 9th. Melancon sealed the deal with a third out strikeout. Bringing Atlanta’s record to 4-3.
