Game 1 ended in a 9-6 loss for the visiting Braves, but the road Braves look to avoid their first series loss of the season tonight when Ynoa takes the mound against New York’s Masahiro Tanaka.
Alright look, going off the 2.1 innings that Ynoa logged against Philly in his last start, I’m excited to see him sling it tonight. I was pleasantly surprised by his mound presence & his pitch effectiveness.
Something about Ynoa has the Braves wanting to see more as well, as they advanced him through the minor league ranks very quickly. The Braves rotation pains have been his gain in 2020, bringing him to the big league club before they had planned prior to the season’s seemingly endless roller coaster.
Tonight’s Yankee lineup is far & away better than what he faced in the city of brotherly love, so there’s no hiding or working around guys tonight. It’s sink or swim. And Alex Anthopoulos’ itchy trigger finger on the demotion button has everyone in the rotation outside of Fried aware that it’s put up or shut up time.
We don’t even need Ynoa to be magnificent. At worst, he just needs to keep it within striking distance when his night is over; hand it over to the bullpen, and let our offense go to work.
Look for Atlanta to even the series tonight.
Here’s a short highlight of Ynoa’s last start:
